Protractor

What if we want to know more than just what type of angle it is?  What if we want to know the exact amount of degrees an angle measures? 

In order to measure an angle we use a tool called a protractor.  This is a protractor: 

Steps for Using a Protractor to Measure Angles: 
  1. Be sure that the protractor is facing the right way--the numbers should not be backwards!
  2. Put the center of the protractor (small hole) on the vertex.
  3. Place the 0°  mark on one ray (arm) of the angle.
Read the mesaure on the protractor on the other ray (side). 
Be sure to always count up from 0°
Read the measurement as close as you can!
